A 165 strong coven of witches ditched their broomsticks and set sail with their paddle boards on Wood Lake in Lake Country this past weekend.
The spooky Wood Lake event has become an annual tradition taking place every October with similar events set to take place throughout October in the Okanagan.
The 165 participants this year floated onto the water while over a hundred viewers watched from the shoreline.
The event seemed to be a great success, with many witches taking to Facebook afterwards to share pictures and positive comments.

At the end of the month, local witches are invited to paddle again in Coldstream at Kal Beach. The event will take place on Saturday Oct. 28, at 12:00 p.m.
“All are welcome as long as you’re dressed up - darker/witchier the better for a spooky vibe on the lake,” organizer Ashley Lyn Reich said on the Facebook event page. “This event is suitable for various experience levels, but is not recommended for first time paddlers (unless you’re willing to risk a cold plunge in the lake!).”
The witchy paddle boarding craze is sweeping across Canada, with events just like being organized to fundraise for charities or just get the community together.
