Despite miserable weather, a Kamloops photographer snapped some wonderful photos of beavers in a local park.
Taylor Borth took her camera to McArthur Island Park in the late afternoon Sunday, March 12, for a walk along the Thompson River in the cold, wind and rain.
She spotted another wildlife photographer Doug Giles so knew there was something to see.
They saw three beavers swimming, eating and grooming themselves, and even watched as one appeared to be taking a nap.
"They're not skittish, they just nibble on trees, turn around and stare and go back to their business, they're really cool," Borth said. "They're so cute holding bits of wood with their little hands."
She's looking forward to going back and photographing them again.
One of Canada’s most iconic animals, beavers are the country’s largest rodents. The herbivores weigh up to 32 kilograms and can be found in lakes and streams all over the country, according to Canadian Geographic.
Beavers are known for their long buck teeth they used to chew wood with to build their lodges, and tails they use to pat mud into place on the dams. The use their tails as propellers when swimming and to prop themselves up when sitting on land.
The giant rodents have clear membranes over their eyes so they can see underwater, and can hold their breath for 20 minutes at a time.

Their diet consists of new tree bark on certain trees, twigs leaves and pond vegetation.
Beavers don't hibernate, rather they build dry lodges to winter in.
