Many Okanagan residents woke up to a stunning blaze of colours as the sun rose this morning.

The brilliant sunrise came as the American federal election unfolds, and some seemed to see a message of hope.

“Today’s going to be alright, friends… I mean, look at that sunrise!” Chris Mathieson wrote, while Brittany Kalesnikoff and Tina Hubbard observed "a stunning sunrise" and a "beautiful sunrise" on their social media posts.

In Oliver, Bob Young posted his photo, adding, "Good Morning. This is the sun rise this morning. And I hope everyone has a beautiful day like this sunrise is."

The brilliant orange sunrise also heralded a change in the weather this morning, as skies continued to thicken with cloud. Environment Canada says there's a 60 per cent chance of rain this afternoon.
