Anyways, here’s the data from Statistics Canada's Labour Force Survey for June:

  • 6,000: People found employment between May and June in Kelowna.
  • 20: Per cent of people in Kelowna are self-employed.
  • 6,000: People stopped working in Kamloops between May and June.
  • 0.9: Per cent increase in Kelowna’s unemployment rate between February and June.
  • 4.4: Per cent increase in Kamloops’ unemployment rate between February and June.
  • 6.9: Per cent is the national average unemployment rate. Kelowna’s is 6.2 and Kamloops’ is 9.2.
  • 7.9: Per cent is the unemployment rate for the entire Southern Interior.
  • 0.1: Per cent increase in unemployment in Thompson-Okanagan.
  • 62: Per cent decrease in the average hourly wage in B.C. since April.
  • 430,000: Canadians want to be in the workforce but aren’t.
