Identity of deceased released in Sun Peaks rollover

UPDATE - 4:35 p.m., June 10

BC Coroner's Service has confirmed the identity of the victim in a fatal accident on Sun Peaks Road over the weekend.

Mark Russell Haynes, aged 33, of Sun Peaks died on scene after the vehicle rolled into the ditch.

Haynes was a front-seat passenger in the vehicle.

RCMP and the coroner's office continue to investigate the incident.

 

12:25 p.m., June 10

KAMLOOPS - A 33-year-old man died when he was thrown from a vehicle during a crash that happened Saturday on Sun Peaks Road.

The single vehicle accident occurred just after 11:30 p.m. The driver survived and police are investigating for impaired driving. Another 24-year-old male passenger was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they believe both surviving males live in the Sun Peaks area.

A traffic analyst assisted at the scene and is determining the cause of the accident during this ongoing investigation.

The identify of the deceased is not available at this time.
