RCMP officers and firefighters responded to several single-vehicle crashes this morning along Highway 97 north of Vernon.
Police say so far there are no reports of injuries, but they are reminding drivers that below-zero temperatures have brought on winter driving conditions.
The highway was flooded and became icy, according to a release from the regional district.
"There have been multiple reports that the cause of the water was a water main break," regional district communications officer Ashley Gregerson says in the release. "The RDNO has confirmed that this is incorrect and there was no water main break."
RCMP are looking into what caused the water on the road.
"Drivers need to remember that roads are often icy this time of the year," Vernon RCMP media relations officer Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says in a media release. "RCMP are asking motorists to drive to conditions, and make sure your vehicle is winter ready."
