The sweet delicacies that came out of the Penticton Peach for the past six years will be getting served up at a different part of the beach this summer.
There was a public backlash last month when a local operator was outbid on the contract for the Penticton Peach by an Alberta company. It was recently revealed the Alberta company bid 60% higher than the two local applicants.
But while a new flavour of frozen goodies will be getting served up out of the iconic peach for the next while, the previous operator has found a new place to call “home of the Crazy Shakes.”
The same familiar treats will be available but under a new name – the Cherry On Top Shake Shop.
So Beach ’n’ Brownie Crazy Shakes and Mocha Choca Latte Ya Ya Crazy Cones will still be a part of summer on Lakeshore Drive, “just a quick five-minute walk from where we were,” reads the announcement on Facebook.

The post, written by owner Diana Stirling, thanks the community for its support after the loss of its “Peachy home” in April.
“The ‘Cherry On Top’ is that extra bit of sweetness in life,” Stirling said, in the post. “It’s what you experience when you choose to keep dreaming and creating, even when you lose heart for a little while. It’s that moment you get to taste the delicious results of grit and perseverance and love.
She said it will be Penticton's most photo-worthy ice cream shop.
"We are so truly thankful to the community for standing by us and behind so supportive they lifted us up when we needed it, and we are very appreciative," Stirling said in a message to iNFOnews.
The new location is at 1028 Lakeshore Dr. and opening day will be Friday, May 20.
