Kamloops RCMP officers were dispatched after receiving reports of possible human remains being found around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, according to an RCMP news release.

Both the Forensic Identification Services Unit and the BC Coroners Service remain onsite today.

“The investigation into the found skeletal remains is in its very early stages,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

“Who the remains belong to and the circumstances surrounding their discovery are part of the ongoing investigation.”

The BC Coroners Service is conducting an independent investigation.
