A large plume of smoke can be seen from across Kamloops this afternoon.
Residents took to social media Saturday at roughly 4:40 p.m. to report the heavy plume.
Kamloops resident Ashley Martin said a fire is located at Thompson Rivers University in a gully between the university and Summit Drive.
Within a few minutes, she said the fire grew "significantly."
Videos captured by residents show fire scorching trees and grass in the area. Emergency crews are also on scene.
Kamloops Fire Rescue did not immediately return a request for comment.
