KAMLOOPS - Since announcing his run across Canada and back, Edward "Fast Eddy" Dostaler has found some new partners to help fund his run and provide some financial security to cover the year it will take to complete his journey to raise awareness and donations for breast cancer and alzheimers research.
Dostaler's sponsorships, through Body Glide, Thompson Rivers University, North Face and others have helped him raise nearly $25,000 for his run. Dostaler says he's contributed from six to seven thousand dollars towards the project.
"A lot of that was through my own paycheques," he says. "It's been quite the journey."
And he hasn't even left yet. The trip begins March 1.
To see Dostaler before he leaves, watch him run at the Kamloops Blazer's game on Jan. 21. A dinner to raise the last $7,000 Dostaler needs will take place at the Fox and Hounds on Feb. 23.
