Holly, jolly, family-friendly holiday activities to check out in Kamloops, Okanagan this weekend

There are several fun Christmas activities for kids and families to try out in Kamloops and the Okanagan this coming weekend. Here are a few options to entertain the young ones and help bring in the spirit of the holiday season.

There are still tickets available for the Friday Family Food and Fun event at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Kamloops, where guests can enjoy a simply dinner followed by children’s games, stories and songs and even the creation of mini cookie houses. The free event is non-religious and families of all descriptions are welcome. Event activities are aimed toward children pre-school to elementary school age.

Located at St. Paul's Cathedral Hall at 360 Nicola Street, this event runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15. Go here to get your tickets. 

Polar Express Pajama Party Experience in Vernon is on for its second year at the Towne Theatre. There will be a screening of The Polar Express and VIP ticket holders get hot chocolate and cookies, while all the children attending receive stockings full of treats.

Located at the Vernon Towne Theatre at 2910 30th Avenue, the event runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15. Go here to get your tickets.

Willow Grove Riding School in Kelowna is offering a festive pony riding experience for kids. At Christmas Pony Ride Days, each kid will get to ride a pony through Christmas obstacles in an arena while learned a few basics of riding. Parents are invited to take photos. The pony rides are for ages 3 to 12 and they can be signed up through email.

Located at Willow Grove Riding School at 4720 Posthill Drive, the Christmas Rides are available by email appointment starting on Saturday, Dec. 16. Go here for more information and to sign up your child.

Kids and families can enter a Whoville display at the Penticton Safety Village and enjoy festive snacks and activities.

The family-friendly space is already decked out like a scene from Dr. Seuss’ classic The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. The goal of the event is to bring the whimsy and magic of Whoville and lift the holiday spirit.

Penticton Whoville Inaugural Holiday Whobilation located at 490 Edmonton Avenue in open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday Dec. 16/17. Go here for more information.
