OTTAWA - The University of Ottawa suspended its men's varsity hockey program Monday.

The school said in a statement the decision was made after information was received from a third party last month regarding an incident involving members of the team.

No specific details were immediately available but the statement said the information included allegations of serious misconduct.

The school has reported the incident to police and pledged full co-operation with authorities.

The university has also launched an internal review.

"The University has high expectations of all our students and staff," the school said in the statement. "The alleged misconduct is not in keeping with the values that are at the heart of athletics and student life on campus."

The school adds no details regarding the matter will be released at this time.
