NHL suspends Islanders forward Maxim Tsyplakov three games for illegal check

NEW YORK - The NHL suspended forward Maxim Tsyplakov of the New York Islanders three games Friday for delivering an illegal check in a game.

Tsyplakov received the ban for hitting Philadelphia forward Ryan Poehling in the head during the first period of the Flyers' 5-3 win Thursday night.

Tsyplakov will forfeit US$14,843.76 in salary. The money will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
