Highway 97 is blocked near Summerland after another landslide.

Rocks and debris fell onto Highway 97 north of Summerland this afternoon, Aug. 28, and traffic is being diverted to other routes, according to DriveBC.

The landslide is between Bridgeman Road and North Beach Road, blocking traffic in both directions. DriveBC says drivers can detour on Highways 97C, 5A, 3 or 33 until its reopened.

There's no estimated time to reopen the highway and DriveBC is awaiting a geotechnical assessment.

It's the third landslide to close the route this year, following a collapsed bluff that closed the highway on the south end of Summerland in May and again in June.

For the latest on the highway's status, go to DriveBC here.
