KAMLOOPS - Chase RCMP confirm that one person has died in the motor vehicle incident on Highway one this morning.

The incident happened just after 5 a.m. this morning. Police were called to the 5400-block of the Trans Canada Highway for a report of a collision involving a semi-tractor trailer and a car.

A media release says the driver of the semi truck was injured and has been transported to hospital with what are believed to be serious but non-life threatening injuries. The person, presumably the driver of the other vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Collision Reconstructionists and Analysts have been called to assist in the investigation and in determining the cause of the collision.

The highway is expected to remain closed for a number of hours.

Drive B.C. recommends to detours are available on 97a, 97b, and 97 through Monte Creek.

Highway updates will be available on the Drive B.C. website.
