Committee Appointments for 2015

The Regional Board has approved the appointment of Directors to represent the Regional District on several boards and committees for 2015.  Directors James Baker, Doug Findlater and Tracy Gray will serve on the Okanagan Basin Water Board.  Director Wayne Carson is appointed to the Okanagan Regional Library Board.  Directors Duane Ophus and Brad Sieben will serve on the Sterile Insect Release Board while Director Patty Hanson has been appointed to the Economic Development Commission and Tracy Gray will serve as a liaison to the Okanagan Film Commission.

Front Counter BC Recreational Trail Referral

The Regional Board supports a referral application from Front Counter BC to convert informal nature trails over Crown land into a designated recreational trail.  The District of West Kelowna has applied to the Provincial agency to upgrade and manage existing trails on Crown land adjacent to Rose Valley Regional Park. The Regional District has asked West Kelowna to coordinate trail plans and signage with the Regional Parks staff to help transition trail users between the Crown land trails and those within the Regional Park.

Front Counter BC Public Road Referral

The Regional Board supports a referral application from Front Counter BC to designate a portion of Crown land for a public road.  The application from a private landowner would designate a 1.21-hectare portion of Crown land for a public road required to allow subdivision of the private parcel off Chute Lake Road in the Central Okanagan East Electoral Area.

Front Counter BC Easement Referral

The Regional Board supports a referral application from Front Counter BC that if approved would convert a License of Occupation into a permanent easement to access a private property from June Springs Road.  The access already exists and isn’t expected to disturb additional land and will provide the applicant with permanent access rights to their existing private land-locked parcel (Myra Canyon Adventure Park) off June Springs Road in the Central Okanagan East Electoral Area.

Front Counter BC Trail Referral

The Regional Board conditionally supports a referral application from Front Counter BC to permit construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of a trail by the Peachland Outdoors Club.  It has applied to the Provincial agency for approval to upgrade and maintain a recreational trail on Crown land outside the District of Peachland but within the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area.  Among the conditions of support, the Regional District would like signage installed to prohibit motorized vehicle use and identify trail locations of Crown, private and RDCO owned lands near Trepanier Creek Greenway Regional Park.
