Higher COVID-19 case numbers reported in Okanagan

The latest data on new COVID-19 cases in the Interior Health region shows a shift in the number of cases from Kamloops to the Okanagan.

Cases in the Kamloops Local Health Area (from Barriere to Logan Lake and Chase) peaked at 161 new cases at the start of February but dropped to 42 in the most recent week data is available, March 7 to 13. There were 100 new cases recorded the week before.

The data comes from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control website.

At the same time, new cases in the Central Okanagan grew to 88 from 66, Vernon cases jumped to 26 from eight the previous week and Penticton went to seven cases from four.

In all, the total number of cases in the Interior Health region climbed to 214 cases last week from 210 the week before.
