Here's what's happening in Vernon for New Year's Eve

Silver Star is once again putting on its annual fireworks and torchlight parade on Dec. 31.

VERNON - From the annual torchlight parade at Silver Star to high-end parties, there’s something for everyone this New Year’s Eve in Vernon.

Families may want to check out the fireworks and torchlight parade at Silver Star Mountain Resort on Sunday, Dec. 31. If you want to participate in the parade, you have to register in advance and pay a $5 fee. You may also want to make a night of it by checking out the skating pond or tubing hill. Visit the resort’s website for prices and hours of operation.

The Vernon Lodge is putting on a special New Year’s Eve party with music by The Legendary Lake Monsters for $75 a ticket. The night includes a buffet and late night snacks.

Predator Ridge is also hosting a New Year’s Eve party with extra flair for Canada’s 150th birthday. For $75 a person, you can enjoy a cocktail, a variety of “the finest Canadiana dishes from across the country”, a DJ and dancing until morning. 

Record City is holding an all ages New Year’s show on Sunday, Dec. 31 featuring three Okanagan bands. Tickets are $15 in advance or $30 at the door. 

Marten Brewpub is hosting a 90s themed “Brewyear’s Eve” party featuring Street Eats Stations, a DJ and dance floor, balloon drop, door prices and a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas. Come dressed in your best 90s outfit and compete for best attire, or just have fun at the Instagram booth.

For the super upscale, you may want to look into the festivities going on at Sparkling Hill Resort. Packages for the Casino Royale-themed package start at $499 per night for two adults. The 19-plus event includes two nights of accommodation, casino tables, live entertainment, a late night buffet, a champagne toast and a DJ, as well as a three course dinner and New Year’s Day brunch.
