Here's the best way to voice your opinion on new affordable housing plans for Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – The City of Kamloops will hold two open houses this week to discuss affordable housing projects.

The first is tonight, Jan. 24, at the Sandman Centre from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to discuss the affordable housing project on 259 Victoria Street.

The second open house will be on Jan. 25 to discuss the supportive housing project on 317 Tranquille Road. It will take place at the Mount Paul Food Centre from 5 - 7:30 p.m.

The city encourages residents to come out and voice their opinion on the two projects.

“It’s open to neighbours of where those social housing projects are going to be,” says City of Kamloops Communications Manager Wendy Heshka. “It’s going to be an opportunity for them to comment on the homelessness strategy for those sites.”

Recently, the City of Kamloops and the provincial government announced they would provide more than 100 modular homes for those who need supportive housing.

The modular homes for the two different sites are expected to be completed in the Fall 2018, with residents in the homes by winter.
