KAMLOOPS - A fire that destroyed a Kamloops elementary school last week has left many teachers without the materials they need for the school year but several organizations across the community have offered to assist in any way they can.

Tumbleweed Toys in Kamloops is offering to create a registry of supplies teachers need through a 'wish list' format.

Products are being sold at a discounted rate for teachers and teaching assistants who lost items in last week's fire.

Kamloops-Thompson school district superintendent Alison Sidow says many teachers have losts tens of thousands of dollars worth of materials.

People can also donate gently used or new books to help teachers rebuild their classrooms.

A GoFundMe has also been created to help with the cost of classroom supplies as well. There has already been more than $21,000 raised out of the $50,000 set goal.
