UPDATE: 9:22 p.m. July 15: Warning ended

KAMLOOPS - A new severe thunderstorm watch notice has been issued for the South Thompson region.

Weather conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail and strong gusts of wind today, July 15, according to Environment Canada.

Yesterday the city was warned of a severe storm, though it passed with a whimper.

The release warns that strong wind can toss objects, the heavy rain may cause flash flooding and lightning can kill and injure.

Earlier today Environment Canada predicted showers for the weekend and noted there was a risk of thunderstorms. This July has already been wetter than average, as well, with more than double the amount of rain compared to last July, already.
