Heavy police response for person in crisis in Penticton

An individual in crisis in Penticton has been taken into custody early this morning after several homes and an officer were evacuated.

Penticton RCMP responded to a report about someone in crisis at 1:29 a.m. today, March 12, according to a press release from police.

Frontline officers, members of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team and Kelowna Police Dog Services arrived at the scene in Westhills Crescent but the person in crisis reported left before police arrived.

Police found the individual at 9:35 a.m. and in the interest of public safety officers evacuated several homes and an office building.

The individual was apprehended safely and police said the person was connected to “appropriate care.”

There was a heavy police presence in the area and Penticton RCMP wanted to thank the public for cooperating.
