KAMLOOPS - The hot weather experienced this weekend will continue in Kamloops for a couple more days.

Environment Canada meteorologist Lisa Ervin says a high temperature of 38 Celsius is forecast for the city today, July 30, with a gradual cooling trend bringing more seasonal temperatures back to the city by the weekend.

The low tonight won't be that low, with the mercury forecast to only drop to around 20 C.

Tomorrow look for sunny skies with local smoke and a high of 36 C. Overnight it should be clear with a low of 18 C.

A heat warning is in effect in Kamloops, although no daily records are expected to be set.

“We’re several degrees off setting record temperatures,” she says, adding the heat warning has been issued because of the extended period of warm weather Kamloops has been experiencing.

Wednesday is expected to see temperatures drop a few more degrees, with a high of 33 C. A trough of cooler air being introduced to the Southern Interior will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms starting Wednesday, with the temperature dropping a few degrees to 33 C.

On Thursday and Friday expect a 40 per cent chance of showers and highs of 26 C.

Normal temperatures for this time of year in Kamloops are highs of 29 C and lows of 14 C.
