Wildfire spreads, forcing evacuation of lodge near Quesnel in Euchinko Lakes

QUESNEL, B.C. - A wildfire near Quesnel has spread, forcing occupants of a lodge to leave.

The Cariboo Regional District Emergency Operations Centre posted an evacuation order on its Facebook page for the Euchinko (YOU-chin-EE-KOH) Lake Ranch Lodge.

Forty-one firefighters and six helicopters are trying to put out a 12-square-kilometre fire in Euchiniko Lakes, in the North Cariboo region, which was sparked by lightning Tuesday.

The fire has not been contained.

A provincewide heat wave has heightened officials' concerns about wildfires.
