RCMP arrested four people after responding to reports of gunshots near Penticton on Sunday.

Witnesses reported gunshots coming from a moving vehicle near Green Mountain Road and Shingle Creek Road  around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, April 4, according to an RCMP media release.

Police spotted the vehicle, which fled after officers attempted to stop it. The vehicle sped off in a westbound direction for several kilometres before the driver stopped on his own.

Officers took four occupants into custody.

“Of most concern, was a search of the vehicle that resulted in the seizure of several firearms and ammunition,” Penticton RCMP media relations officer Const. James Grandy said in the release.

Grandy said one of the occupants was found to be prohibited from possessing firearms and several charges were being contemplated. The other three occupants of the vehicle also face several charges.

They have been released from custody with a court appearance slated for June 23.
