VERNON, B.C. - A break-in at a gun shop in Vernon, B.C., has Mounties in that North Okanagan city very concerned.
Corp. Gerry Kovacs says thieves smashed their way into Del Selin Gunsmith on Sunday evening and made off with five SKS semi-automatic assault-style weapons.
No arrests have been made but Kovacs says police have the licence plate number, and a good description, of the getaway car.
He says the robbers used a stolen pickup as a battering ram to burst into the store, then fled in a silver-coloured Chevrolet Optra, B.C. licence 611-LWN.
The compact sedan is easily spotted because it has a white door and brown drivers'-side front fender.
Investigators say the stolen assault rifles resemble AK 47s and he urges anyone with information about the weapons or the thieves to call police. (CICF)
