KELOWNA – Saturday, January 31 marks the launch of a new community fundraising program initiated by Central Okanagan Save-On and Cooper’s Foods. All six locations are inviting customers to donate More Rewards points (1,000 points = $1) and matching donations dollar for dollar.

Funds raised support the KGH Foundation’s ‘Be a Lifesaver’ campaign to outfit the Interior Heart & Surgical Centre opening this September. The new building on Pandosy at Rose Ave will house 15 world-class operating rooms for 12 surgical specialties, including advanced open heart surgery.

More than $10 million has been raised for specialized state-of-the-art medical equipment. With just $2 million to go, local store managers are calling on the community to support the outfitting of the IHSC and ensure the best care possible, right at home.

“At Save-On-Foods and Cooper’s Foods we truly understand the importance of being an active part of our community. Our company and our Kelowna and area stores feel honored to be supported by the communities we serve," Don Gandy with Save-On-Foods in the Lakeshore centre says. "More importantly we ask ourselves how we can support our own community as we too live, work and play in this fantastic region and feel it is very important to support our friends, families and neighbors where the opportunities arise.”
