Former governor general David Johnston joins Deloitte as adviser

TORONTO - Accounting firm Deloitte says former governor general David Johnston has joined the firm as an executive adviser.

The company says Johnston will be based in Ottawa and offer advice in such areas as innovation, leadership development and helping businesses improve growth and productivity.

Johnston officially left the vice-regal position On Oct. 2 when former astronaut Julie Payette was sworn in as the 29th person to represent the Queen in Canada.

Deloitte managing partner and chief executive Frank Vettese says they are proud Johnston he has chosen Deloitte "to further his work on key issues of importance to the future of Canada."

Vettese added that Johnston's expertise and experience will be of great value as Canada deals with complex challenges in the years to come.

The company says Johnston was fascinated by Deloitte’s efforts to understand change and help clients prepare for the future.
