KAMLOOPS - Beer, music, art, and food are among some of the biggest highlights for Canada Day weekend in Kamloops.

Tomorrow night, June 29, the downtown Kamloops back alley block party will be held for another year starting at 4 p.m. in the 200 block alleyway between Victoria Street and Seymour Street. A local art showcase and artisan market will be at the party, and local artists will be performing.

Happy hour will be from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., and life-sized beer pong will be a source for entertainment. Food and drink from local wineries, breweries and restaurants will be available to the public. For full details on the event, go here.

Canada Day weekend kicks off in a pretty patriotic way, with a free concert by Big Sugar hosted in Sun Peaks Saturday night, June 30. The Juno award-winning rock group will be performing in front of thousands of people on the eve of Canada Day, as part of an activity-filled, family-friendly weekend at the resort.

The free concert will begin at 7 p.m. and for more information you can go here.

Bailey's Pub is hosting a Canada Day pub crawl on Sunday, July 1, which starts at 11 a.m. with a burger and beer at Bailey's. Then at noon, a bus will take customers to three other local pubs and finish off at the Riverside Park beer gardens. The evening will wrap up at 6 p.m. at Bailey's Pub for dinner, which is also included in the $50 ticket price. Tickets are available at the pub, and for more information, go here.

While you venture downtown, you can stop by Red Collar brewing for a barbeque and beer, with the brewery's second annual backyard barbeque. Hot dogs, veggie dogs and chilli dogs will be available from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. as supplies last. Two special Canada Day casks will be tapped at approximately 2 p.m. Go here for more details.

The City of Kamloops has released a comprehensive schedule for a full day of activities at Riverside Park, which begins with a pancake breakfast, and ends with the annual fireworks display. The Kamloops Heritage Train also offers a ride to a premier spot to watch the fireworks show.
