Get creative, educated or entertained in the South Okanagan this weekend

Learn about the importance of seeds at this weekend's installment of the Osoyoos Desert Society's movie and an expert afternoon at the Watermark Beach Resort in Osoyoos.

PENTICTON - Workshops and a hockey tournament take centre stage in the South Okanagan this weekend.

The Canadian Sport School League Championships continue for a second weekend at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton today, March 15 through Sunday, March 17 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The tournament features 73 teams and over 1,300 athletes. Tickets are available at www.valleyfirsttix.com and in person at the Valley First box office at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

The Paverpol workshop will teach you how to make a figure to display in your garden or house. The workshop takes place at the Summerland Arts & Community Centre tomorrow, March 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You’ll need a T-shirt and a roll of tin foil. Cost of the session is $125. The weekend brunch wine and food pairing continues this weekend at Jackson-Triggs & Inniskillin Okanagan Estate Wineries in Oliver tomorrow, March 16 and Sunday, March 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 pm. This isn’t your typical eggs-and-bacon kind of brunch as food bites are paired with wines from two winery's portfolios. Cost is $35 per person.

The Osoyoos Desert Society winter program movie and an expert presents the movie “Seed: The untold story” at the Watermark Beach Resort in Osoyoos tomorrow, March 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Discover why few things on Earth are as miraculous and vital as seeds and get an insider’s perspective from Desert Society president Lee McFadyen, an experienced seed saver and long-time organic farmer.
