Be prepared to shell out at the pumps this week.

Dan McTeague, an analyst with GasBuddy.com, says in a Tweet that due to a U.S. oil embargo on Iranian oil, gas and diesel prices are expected to climb drastically by Wednesday.

The wholesale price for gas today is at about $1.36 per litre, McTeague told iNFOnews.ca. That number is likely to rise two cents in just two days.

"Gas stations can't operate without a six-cent-per-litre margin," McTeague says on the phone. "So $1.43 might be seen at many stations by Wednesday beginning tomorrow."

Kamloops drivers are seeing prices of $1.329 today; Kelowna prices are at about $1.379; Penticton's are at $1.359; and Vernon is seeing $1.409.

Gas prices in B.C. are already up $0.11 from yesterday sitting at an average of $1.553 per litre. Premium fuel prices in the Lower Mainland went over $2 per litre at some stations. These are the highest rates in the country.
