Garbage and recycling over the holidays: What Vernon and area residents need to know

VERNON - Between all that wrapping paper, tinsel and empty eggnog cartons, garbage and recycling containers are bound to get filled up this holiday season.

Luckily, there aren’t too many changes to local landfill hours and garbage pick-up schudules over Christmas time.

The Regional District of North Okanagan says its recycling and disposal facilities will all be under normal winter hours, with the exception of Friday, Dec. 25 and Friday Jan. 1 when all facilities will be closed. More information on facility locations and winter hours can be found here.

There are a couple changes to be mindful of for garbage pick-up in the City of Vernon and more details can be found here.

Those receiving recycling services from Multi-Material B.C. can check online for pick-up schedules on their street.

Christmas trees can be dropped off at the regional district’s recycling and disposal facilities until Jan. 31, at the corner of 20 Street and 47 Avenue in Vernon until Jan. 18, and in the Enderby Public Works Yard until Jan. 14.
