The body of a Vernon teenager, who was killed in the U.K., has arrived back with her family who will be holding a funeral for her later this week.
Ashley Wadsworth, 19, was visiting her boyfriend in the U.K. when she was found dead in his apartment Feb. 1. Her boyfriend Jack Sepple, 23, has been charged with her murder.
A recent Facebook announcement from Wadsworth’s cousin Melissa Locke said her body has returned to the community and a funeral will be held for her Feb. 23 at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home at noon. A live-stream of the funeral will also be available.
“We are so grateful to everyone who helped make it happen,” Locke wrote.
A GoFundMe created to assist with the financial costs of returning Wadsworth’s body to Vernon has raised more than $40,000.
“We are truly grateful for all of you. Please know that your kind words, candlelit vigils, shared photos, continue to touch our hearts and help us all get through this time of disbelief and anguishing grief,” the family wrote in an update on the fundraiser’s website, Feb. 8.
More than 150 people attended a vigil held in Chelmsford, U.K. earlier this month, near where Wadsworth was staying with Sepple.
