From craft shows to cartoons, this weekend has something for everyone

KELOWNA - Looking to cross a few people off your shopping list this weekend? Kelowna has more than enough craft fairs and fundraisers this weekend to help you out with that.

Approximately 20 music and talent acts are scheduled to perform at The Okanagan Philippines Typhoon Fundraiser Saturday from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Rotary Centre for the Arts (421 Cawston Avenue). Funds will benefit the Canadian Red Cross and those in the Philippines affected by the devastation caused by typhoon Haiyan. 

More than 40 vendor booths, door prizes, refreshments and maybe even Santa himself will be at Rutland Centennial Hall on Saturday for the 5th Annual Christmas Extravaganza starting at 9 a.m. Vendors include Steeped Tea, Scentsy, Epicure, Arbonne, Tupperware, Mary Kay and many more. 

Come on down to the indoor Farmers Market at Parkinson Recreation Centre (1800 Parkinson Way) between 9 and 1 p.m. Saturday for fruit, veggies, cheeses, baking, crafts and more. 

Christmas food, arts and crafts with a French Flair will be available at the French Cultural Centre (702 Bernard Avenue) from  9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Items for sale include tourtières, beigne (traditional doughnuts) , creton,  gifts, scarfs, jewelry, health products and more. There will also be a complimentary French craft corner for kids 

Exclusive items by local Artisans will be sold in the Heritage Church and Hall Saturday at the 19th Annual Benvoulin Heritage Church Craft Show between 9 p.m. and 4 p.m. Items for sale include stained glass, gifts, soaps, primitive fabric, rustic wood, paper crafts and more. 

Celebrate the Christmas season Saturday and Sunday with hot apple cider, lavender shortbread & other delights at the Okanagan Lavender Herb Farm Christmas Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

The Ponderosa Spinners, Weavers and Fibre Artists are once again presenting their sumptuous selection of items this Saturday. Everything from stocking stuffers to serious indulgences will be for sale from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m at St Michael's Cathedral Hall (604 Sutherland). 

A poinsettia & wreath fundraiser will be held with at Springvalley Elementary School (470 Ziprick Road) at noon on both Saturday and Sunday. Send email questions to svefundraising@hotmail.com.

If you’re not in the shopping mood, the Kelowna Art Gallery (1315 Water Street) and local artists’ group Art Brew teamed up for the Saturday Morning Cartoons exhibition. The exhibition features work by 32 local artists that explore the subculture and phenomena surrounding their favorite Saturday morning cartoons and cartoon characters.
