An online fundraiser has been launched to get a memorial bench in honour of a former Thompson Rivers University employee killed last month.

Lucy Phua, 54, was killed on Nov. 15 after being struck by a pickup truck on McGill Road near the TRU campus.

A GoFundMe page has been started by Marnie Storie, a friend and co-worker of Phua, in an effort to raise $2,800 which will go towards a memorial bench to be placed in Kenna Cartwright Park.

“You touched the lives of so many across Kamloops and beyond. Your kind heartedness, caring and adventurous spirit made you a joy to work and spend time with,” Storie says in the GoFundMe page description. “The bench will be placed in Kenna Cartwright Park, your favourite hiking spot so that you can be forever remembered.”
