Former long-time editor of the Vernon Morning Star Glenn Mitchell has died.

Kevin Mitchell confirmed his brother passed away Dec. 17. He was 60 years old.

Kevin told iNFOnews.ca Glenn was one of the smartest and kindest people he'd ever known.

"He would do anything for you," Kevin said.

Glenn was the editor of the Vernon Morning Star for 30 years until his departure three years ago. Kevin worked alongside him as sports editor for many of those years.

"(Glenn) didn't have an ego... everybody in the newsroom felt at ease walking in through his office to discuss whatever it was... he made them feel welcome," Kevin said. "Unfortunately, he loved everybody but himself."

Glenn was born in New Westminster in 1960 and moved to Vernon aged three. He got a degree from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and later studied journalism in Kamloops.

He leaves behind his wife Rhoda, and his two adult sons Justin and Lucas, along with many other family and friends.
