Adam Foote, who was the head coach of the Kelowna Rockets from 2018 to 2020, has been named assistant coach on the Vancouver Canucks.
Rick Tocchet was named as the Canucks new head coach and Bruce Boudreau was fired this morning, according to a media release from the team. Former NHLer Sergei Gonchar was also named as an assistant captain.
"We are also excited about the additions of Adam Foote and Sergei Gonchar to our coaching staff," the release says. "Both individuals enjoyed long, successful playing careers as NHL defencemen and together provide a wide range of expertise on both sides of the puck. Tocchet, Foote, and Gonchar all bring a championship pedigree to the organization and we look forward to welcoming them to Vancouver."
Foote, while playing in the NHL, won two Stanley Cups in 1996 and 2001 and an Olympic Gold Medal in 2002. As the coach of the Rockets, he had a record of 48-49-8-4.
