Canucks coach cracks a joke about how close he is to losing his job

During today’s pre-game interview, Vancouver Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau responded to a question about the fate of his job with humour and sarcasm.

The Canuck lost eight of their last 10, they have a win percentage of .433, and do not appear to be playoff bound. Boudreau recently addressed rumours that his job is on thin ice.

“Any additional message for your players today, and if so is there any part of that you can share with us,” a reporter asked today, Jan. 21.

“Eh, I think it’s just another game,” Boudreau said, before he cracked up, which made many others erupt in laughter.

“Sorry, well it’s better than crying.”

On a serious note, “I’ll keep what me and the players go through between me and the players,” he said.D

During last night's game at the Rogers Arena, when the crowd-pleaser song Whoomp! (There It Is) was played, fans showed their support for the beleaguered coach by chanting of "Bruce there it is,"

Boudreau was hired December 2021 to replace outgoing coach Travis Green.

The Canucks play against the Edmonton Oilers tonight at 7 p.m.
