Former Kelowna city manager takes top job in West Kelowna

FILE PHOTO - Kelowna's former city manager Ron Mattiussi.

Ron Mattiusi, who spent 13 years at the top of Kelowna's City Hall before retiring in 2018, has been hired to take on the chief administrative officer job in West Kelowna.

His appointment was announced today, Feb. 13, at the West Kelowna council meeting.

He will serve on an interim basis until a new CAO is selected in the coming months.

Since retiring, Mattiussi has served as a consultant to municipalities throughout the province, including in Lytton after it was devastated by a 2021 wildfire.

He was also called in to help with the McDougall Creek wildfire recovery efforts for West Kelowna after that fire this summer.

Former West Kelowna CAO Paul Gipps now holds the same position with the District of Lake Country. He left West Kelowna as of Feb. 9.
