Former Dragon to speak at Chamber AGM

KELOWNA – You won’t want to pass on this deal.

Okanagan business tycoon and philanthropist W. Brett Wilson who gained fame during his stint on The Dragon’s Den will be speaking at the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting in Kelowna this April.

Wilson, who owns several businesses in the valley, will share stories from behind the scenes of his celebrated time on the hit CBC show where individuals pitch ideas to successful business leaders. He will also discuss the importance of planting seeds of entrepreneurship in Canada, as well as his three pillars to success.

One of the stars of CBC’s Gemini Award-winning Dragon’s Den, Wilson is also chairman of Canoe Financial, a privately owned investment management firm and chairman of his wholly owned Prairie Merchant Corporation, a private merchant bank focused on business opportunities in the energy, agriculture, real estate, sports and entertainment industries.

In 1993 he co-founded FirstEnergy Capital Corp, a brokerage firm providing investment-banking services to Canada’s energy sector. For the past six years he has been investing extensively in real estate projects around the Okanagan.

The Chamber’s Annual General Meeting takes place April 8 at Manteo Resort starting at 11 a.m. Tickets must be purchased before 4 p.m. April 1 at a cost of $40 for members and $55 for the public.
