First days of fall bring unsettled conditions to Okanagan

Some clouds and showers are in the Okanagan forecast this week.

KELOWNA - The first days of autumn will bring fall-like weather conditions to the Okanagan.

Environment Canada says to expect cloudy conditions to give way to periods of rain today, Sept. 23, in Vernon and Kelowna. A few showers expected in Penticton today.

The wind is forecast to become south at 30 km/h near noon in the Okanagan today.

The high today should reach 16 Celsius in Vernon and Kelowna and 18 C in Penticton, with an overnight low of 10 C in all three cities. There is a 30 per cent chance of showers this evening, with the wind becoming light later tonight.

Tomorrow should see a mix of sun and cloud along with a high of 20 C in Vernon and Kelowna, and 21 C in Penticton along with a low of 7 C in all three cities. The wind is expected to become southwest at 30 km/h near noon, with clear conditions overnight.

Periods of rain are forecast for Wednesday with a high of 17 C in the Okanagan. Rain and wind are expected overnight with a low of 9 C.

Showers are in the forecast for Thursday with a high of 13 C expected. Thursday night should see cloud cover increase along with a low of 5 C.

A 60 per cent chance of showers is forecast for Friday along with a mix of sun and clouds and a high of 14 C. The chance of showers diminishes overnight to 30 per cent with a low of 4 C expected.

The weekend could see a 30 per cent chance of showers on Saturday along with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 14 C.

Sunday, the forecast is calling for a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 15 C.

Normal temperatures for this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of 18 C and lows of 6 C.
