EVENTS SCHEDULE RELEASED

VERNON - The details of this year’s Canada Day celebrations have been announced, and fireworks will be back and better than ever.

A group of volunteers known as the North Okanagan Canada Day Society have come together to put on both daytime and evening events for residents to enjoy.

“The society was formed in response to liability concerns by the City of Vernon which also forced the cancellation of the 2015 fireworks display by the City of Vernon. Volunteers have come together under the society to ensure the continuation of both daytime and evening Canada Day celebrations in the North Okanagan for years to come,” states a media release.

In addition to a number of events in Polson Park July 1, there will also be a fireworks display on Kalamalka Lake. The display is being sponsored by Craftsman Collision.

“This year’s Craftsman Collision Canada Day Fireworks will be an amazing spectacle on Kal Lake,” regional manager Tom Watters, says in the release. “It’s an honour and privilege to be in a position where we can help the City of Vernon and the District of Coldstream host such a great, free family event.”

The Craftsman Collision Canada Day Fireworks start at 10:30 p.m. at the Kal Lake barge and pier.

“Please car pool to Kal beach or find a suitable vantage point in the area surrounding the bay,” the society says.

Kal Beach does not allow pets or alcohol, and the society asks that you please secure your pets at home.
