MONTREAL - More than 200 firefighters from across Canada and the northeastern United States have been sent to Quebec this month to help fight forest fires.
Quebec's forest fire protection service says the reinforcements hail from Saskatchewan, Alberta, Massachusetts and from Parks Canada.
They will join the service's 400 firefighters as well as their colleagues already lending a hand from New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Hampshire and Maine.
About 60 fires are active at the moment.
A spokeswoman for the fire protection service says there have been 357 fires in the province so far this year, up from an average of 276.
