Officers chased down a man setting fires in Kamloops on Friday.
Police were called at approximately 5:35 p.m., July 19, to a report of a man lighting fires in the 4 Avenue and Nicola Street area, according to an RCMP media release issued today, July 23.
RCMP said the man reportedly lit grass on fire and walked away, and then lit two more fires.
Officers with fire extinguishers put out the fires and arrested a suspect after a foot chase.
The suspect was assessed by members of the Integrated Crisis Response Team but RCMP don't say what the result of the assessment was.
The suspect was released from custody with a court date and conditions, RCMP said.
“Charge recommendations are anticipated as part of the assessment and approval process,” the release read.
