PENTICTON - Firefighters were called to a structure fire at Greenwood Forest Products this morning.

Penticton Fire Department Deputy Chief Chris Forster says the department arrived at the plant on Green Mountain Road around 4:40 a.m. to find black smoke emanating from the centre and north end of one of the buildings at the site.

A lone employee on scene was able to provide firefighters with details of the building in addition to informing them no one else was in the building.

Forster says crews ventilated the structure prior to gaining entry, where they discovered a fork lift on fire.

The fire was contained to the vehicle, with smoke and water damage to the building.

Forster says the building was used for wood storage, and was not part of the main manufacturing section of the plant.
