KELOWNA – Firefighters tackled at blaze at a storage yard in Kelowna last night made dangerous by propane tanks.
Heavy smoke and flames were coming from two large metal storage containers, a semi trailer and a motorhome at the storage yard on Adams Road when fire crews arrived at about 6:30 p.m., Jan. 18, according to a Kelowna Fire Department media release.
"Propane containers where known to be in the area so crews cautiously cooled and extinguished the fires with only one propane cylinder venting off," Platoon Capt. Kelly Stephens says in the release.
A man was taken to hospital to be treated for minor smoke inhalation. The storage containers, motorhome and trailer sustained heavy damage.
Fire investigators are on the scene of the blaze today looking for the cause.
