December 03, 2018 - 4:19 PM

BIG WHITE - Emergency workers discovered the body of a man while fighting a structure fire at Big White on Sunday.

Big White fire chief Jamie Svendsen says in an emailed statement that while firefighters were containing the structure fire on Sunday, Dec. 2, the body of a man was found.

The man's identity has not been released.

In a late release, Kelowna RCMP said they are assisting the B.C. Coroners Service in the investigation and spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey provided more information in a release.

He said fire crews were called around 8:30 p.m. to the residence in the 5800 block of Snowpine Crescent in Beaverdell near Big White.

He said police "do not believe that criminality was involved in the 73-year-old man's death.
