Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh is stopping in Kamloops as part of a virtual tour to discuss affordable housing.
Today, May 20, Singh will be joined on a Zoom panel by local NDP candidate Bill Sundhu, who was recently confirmed to be running for the Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo riding.
The Zoom panel will also host a conversation between Singh and two single mothers who have recently faced so-called 'renovictions'.
Housing in Kamloops and the Okanagan has soared over the course of the last year, with single-family homes selling at record breaking prices. While Kamloops is currently facing 300 individuals experiencing homelessness, waiting to receive supportive or affordable housing.
However, there are signs that the market is cooling with realtors beginning to see signs of what they're calling "buyer's fatigue," with hopeful homebuyers easing their after being outbid on homes.
Kamloops is the third stop on the virtual housing tour, which were previously hosted for the Windsor-Essex and Saskatoon West ridings.
The Zoom meeting can be found here and will begin at 11:30 a.m.
