Food bank donation on the line as Calgary, Hamilton mayors make Grey Cup bet

November 27, 2014 - 10:37 AM

CALGARY - This year's Grey Cup bet between the mayors of Calgary and Hamilton has a whole lot of food on the line.

Calgary's Naheed Nenshi (nah-HEHD' NEHN'-shee) says the leader of the losing city will have to donate 45 kilograms of food to the winning city's food bank.

Nenshi is using his Facebook page to encourage people at Grey Cup parties to hold similar bets.

He is also letting it be known that the losing mayor will have to wear the victorious team's jersey at an upcoming city council meeting.

Nenshi says it seemed fair not to make Hamilton mayor-elect Fred Eisenberger wear the Stampeders jersey at his swearing in next week.

The Stampeders and the Tiger-Cats face off in the CFL's championship game on Sunday in Vancouver.
