ANTIGONISH, N.S. - Christian Plante and Andrew Klain both returned fumbles for touchdowns in the second quarter as the Mount Allison Mounties beat the St. Francis Xavier X-Men 27-17 on Saturday in Canadian Interuniversity Sport football action.
Trailing by three after one quarter, Plante got the Mounties (3-2) on the board at 5:09 with his fumble return. Klain would follow suit just 1:09 later to put Mount Allison ahead 14-3.
Matt Montgomery rounded out the Mounties' touchdown scoring with a 15-yard pick six in the fourth quarter that sealed the victory.
Mount Allison kicker Ryan Lambert converted on field goals from 20 and 24 yards while Brandon Leyh completed 13-of-19 passes for 78 yards.
Tivon Cook was 21-of-39 passing for 247 yards, a touchdown and an interception for the X-Men (2-3). Ashton Dickson ran in a touchdown while Keon Hughes caught the other.
